Interior Procedure

Preparation for customized interior painting will be performed with the same thoughtful, comprehensive and systematic procedures as our exterior projects.

• Items such as pictures, light sconces, electrical outlet covers, etc. will be removed from the painting surfaces.
• Furniture is placed in the center of the room and covered with lightweight plastic sheeting.
• Flooring is covered with clean interior drop cloths
• All holes will be filled (by request) with lightweight spackle, then sanded and spot primed.
• All stress cracks will be filled with joint compound, then sanded and spot primed.
• All splits on the trim will be filled with siliconized caulking.
• Repaired or newly constructed areas will be primed before painting
• Walls will receive a light pole sanding before painting to ensure a professional finish.
• Trim will receive a light scuff sanding to maximize adhesion and ensure a professional finish.

The application will be performed by professional painters, in ideal conditions to provide a uniform finish. Finish materials will be applied by hand brushing and rolling. New construction, plaster or drywall may be primed using an airless sprayer then back rolled. Ceilings may also be sprayed and back rolled.

The Portsmouth Historical Society hired Portsmouth Painting Company to give the John Paul Jones House on Middle Street a well-deserved fresh coat of paint, and they did an amazing job! The crew gave the 1758 house a thorough prep job before restoring the exterior to its full yellow glory, and it has received many compliments since. Additionally, Dave was great to work with and help to make sure the historic house properly protected and each detail was meticulously finished. We are so pleased with their work and look forward to many more years of it looking its best!

Dave Pine and his team at Portsmouth Painting company are professional and courteous. The Music Hall takes an enormous amount of pride in our 140-year old historic building and Dave was the perfect partner to work with on such an important project. The Music Hall had not had a facelift in 30+ years and he helped choose a color that would respect the history of the building, and make a statement for the next 30+ years. He and his team were such great communicators through any changes or challenges that came up on the project; they were always willing to adapt to our needs. We were working with multiple vendors while Dave and his team were on site. They did a great job working with crews from multiple disciplines that needed to work in close proximity to the painting work. The Music Hall was still open during construction and the team at Portsmouth Painting Co. treated our patrons with the utmost respect and kept the space safe at all times. The final product is outstanding and helped complete the vision we had for our exterior renovations. We really appreciate all the hard work and dedication and would definitely work with them again.
